Smoking policy in Belmont, California
In January 2009, Belmont adopted an ordinance that bans smoking in city parks, all businesses and all multi-story apartments and condominiums.
The policy, which has been described as perhaps the strictest antismoking law in the nation, was the result of a group of retirees lobbying the city to stop secondhand smoke from drifting into their apartments from neighboring places.
Public health advocates consider the ordinance to be a new front in a national battle against tobacco; officials from the American Lung Association of California said "Belmont broke through this invisible barrier in the sense that it addressed drifting smoke in housing as a public health issue."

This Hallmark home in Belmont, CA is one of the first homes you see when you drive into the neighborhood. Hallmark is one of Belmont's best neighborhoods to tour Christmas lights. The combination of little/no traffic and the number of decorated homes is ideal. Carlmont Scots mural on the side of the gymnasium building. Carlmont High School is located in Belmont CA, with one building in San Carlos. Carlmont serves Belmont and San Carlos high school aged kids.

The Beli Deli in Belmont is one of Belmont's deli's. They're open for breakfast and lunch through the week. I like to get food there and walk across to Twin Pines Park to have a picnic. The Beli Deli is located at 1301 6th Avenue in Belmont.

The Vans Restaurant, located at 815 Belmont Avenue in Belmont, CA is one of the few Continental Cuisine Restaurants in Belmont. The Van's is the restaurant on the hill and one of Belmont's most iconic spots.
