Tennessee Eastman Co Kingsport TN

A city within a city, it employed 25,000+ when I was a kid. The industrial architecture always fascinated me. My daddy used to say, of the odd smells which sometimes emanated from the plant: that's the smell of good ol' dirty money. Obviously this was long before the EPA and emissions restrictions.

Rotherwood area Kingsport TN

Big Elm Rd by N Fork Holston River. Here, the river's so shallow you could easily wade in it and you can see the bottom.

wikipedia says: The Holston River is a major river system of southwestern Virginia and east Tennessee. The three major forks of the Holston (its North, Middle and South Forks) rise in southwestern Virginia and have their confluence near Kingsport, Tennessee. The North Fork flows 138 miles (222 km) southwest from Sharon Springs in Bland County, Virginia.

Boat Yard Diner, Kingsport TN

Now closed, unfortunatel, this diner had delicious fried chicken and to-die-for soup beans and cornbread. It was located in an old service station on Netherland Road, directly across from bridge to Ridgefields. My daddy always said beware of a restaurant that also sells bait. LOL!
