My great-grandfather, Rev. Robert Bob Sullivan, is the taller man in the photo. He was born on December 1, 1881, in Montague County, Texas. His older brother, John Allen Sullivan, born November 30, 1879, standing next to him, traveled from his home in Wayne, Oklahoma, to Grandpa Sullivan's home in Arkansas bringing along his third wife, Ninnie Pope, and their two daughters, Clara Ada Sullivan, right, and Ozella Christine Sullivan. The reunion was timed to mark the occasion of their birthdays and a significant number of Sullivan family members converged to celebrate. John died in 1948, and Grandpa Sullivan died in 1950. Their father was Thomas Jefferson Sullivan, and their mother, whose name has been a mystery for well over a hundred years, may be Valley Ann Williams. I located a marriage license that fit the bill perfectly a couple of years ago, just trying to find additional confirmation.
There was a third brother, Wilford Sullivan, who lived in California at the time of his death. Uncle John's first wife was Eliza Bell, step-sister of Maudie Lee Brantley Sullivan. The two girls were the same age. Eliza had lost her mother, Maudie had lost her father. They were said to be inseparable as children and ended up marrying the Sullivan brothers. Uncle John and Eliza's Sullivan's children are: Hattie Sullivan, born 1899; Infant Sullivan, born 1899; George W. Sullivan, born 1902; Louis R. Sullivan, born 1904; Loudie M. Sullivan, born 1906; Preston L. Sullivan, born 1909; Raphael Sullivan, born 1910.
John Allen Sullivan is buried in Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, Oklahoma.
