Historians Jim Walliss and instigator Diego Bonetto collaborate with artists Steve Russell and Noel Lonesborough from Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Corporation to tackle the challenge of making a traditional (Aboriginal) Jervis Bay canoe from the bark of a stringybark tree sourced on the Bundanon property. The canoe was constructed in eight hours -- following clear directions provided by Maritime Architect Davis Payne from the National Maritime Museum, and contemporary marine artist James Dodd who had constructed two canoes in 2010. The Siteworks bark canoe was made from traditional materials (with a little help from a Bunnings vice), including string from the stringybark tree and beeswax and resin from the grass tree. It was then launched as part of Siteworks 2011 on the Shoalhaven River. |

Bark River Trail Buddy knife with black canvas scales and red liners. This is Bark River's version of the classic Marble's Woodcraft designed in 1914 by the writer GW Brooks. Mike went back to the original designs and then made the knife full tang to make it a bit more usable in a broader range of tasks. This has all of the subtle nuances that made this design a classic with the added benefit of being full tang and using a modern knife steel and, of course, the legendary Bark River heat treat. It is, of course, made in the USA and comes with a Sharpshooter ambidextrious sheath. First impressions and information on the JAN 2012 Bark River Knife and Tool Bushcrafter. Moin, hier nun die Vorstellung zum Gunny...hat ja lange genug gedauert! ;-) Der Messerstahl ist übrigens A2...und nicht A1 wie fälschlicherweise von mir gesagt! Ich würde dieses Messer absolut empfehlen...jedoch möchte ich auch anmerken,das man zB mit einem Mora oder Marttiini Messer ebenfalls bestens für Outdoor-Aktivitäten gerüstet ist...man muss wahrlich nicht eine solche Summe ausgeben um ein vernünftiges Messer zu bekommen!
